Of our five senses, the sense of smell is one of the most powerful. A scent can take you back to a certain place, time, event, or memory in an instance. Why not use the power of smell to create loving memories with your partner? Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to improve overall health and wellness. This can transfer to your emotional connections with your significant other. As February is the month of love, we’ve got some great suggestions on how to connect with your partner through aromatherapy. Read on to learn about which oils to try and how to use them to enhance your romantic connections.
Essential Oils
Cassia Oil: When you come home from a long day at work, exhaustion usually hits the moment you walk through the door. Counter your fatigue by using Cassia Cinnamon Oil! This scent is stimulating, giving you plenty of energy to devote time to your partner.
Neroli Oil: Both calming and stimulating, Neroli Oil (also known as orange blossom) is one of the most popular oils when it comes to setting the mood! It is wonderful to use on its own, and the floral undertones make it popular for weddings as well.
Patchouli: This aroma can be intense, so you may want to give it a test run before going all-in! Often associated with the ’60s, Patchouli has a longer history than most know about. With its rich, earthy aroma, this has been used to inspire romance since the 1800s.
Rose: The flower most associated with Valentine’s Day, it’s no surprise Rose Oil makes the list. Although a bit pricier, pure rose oil can go a long way, as not much is needed to impart a sensual effect. Add it to your unscented carrier lotion or oil for a massage, add a few drops to your bath, or simply diffuse a bit to truly set the mood with your partner.
Sandalwood: Woody and sensual, Sandalwood is known for its relaxing aroma. If floral scents aren’t your thing, sandalwood is a great alternative! A little goes a long way, so your bottle of oil can last you for quite some time.
How to Use Essential Oils
Diffusion: The most common method of using aromatherapy is to diffuse the scent. We carry two different types of diffusers to fit your personal taste and room size!
Room mists: If you’d prefer to avoid diffusion, simply mist the room you plan to spend your romantic evening in. We have plenty of Aroma Mist scent options to quickly set the mood and have your space smelling cozy and calming!
Personal fragrance: Don’t forget where you want the focus to be: On each other! Applying oils and perfumes to your body is a great way to attract your partner without creating a roomful of smells. Just remember, a little goes a long way. You also never want to use the pure essential oil on your skin; always dilute it! It’s also a good idea to test out a scent before your big night of romance to ensure your partner doesn’t have an aversion to the smell.
In the bath: Nothing says romance like a candlelit bubble bath. By adding a few drops of one of the oils we mentioned above to your scent-free Just Bubbles bubble bath, you can set the mood for romance as soon as you slip into the water.
Carrier oils: Carrier oils are great to have on hand for a variety of purposes. This Valentine’s Day, try adding a few drops of your favorite romantic oil to an unscented carrier oil, such as our Fractioned Coconut Oil!Give your partner the perfect massage to relax and connect.
Not sure which oils to try? Test a few out! Just avoid trying them all in one shot. Extend your Valentine’s Day romance by experimenting with different scents, uses, and distribution methods. The best part about investing in essential oils is that there are so many uses aside from sparking romance. The month of February can be long and cold...cozy up with your partner and reconnect through aromatherapy!
